New key-chain holder creates mobile ‘Service Reminder’ Time Indicators

Smart indicator manufacturers Timestrip have created a new, low cost mini-cartridge device to house individual Timestrip Time indicators that have been activated to prompt consumers with a  visual service reminder or alert maintenance teams to a components ‘end of life’ date.

Timestrip have launched the device with two stock items – a 3 month indicator and a 1 year indicator – and can offer bespoke time configurations subject to order quantities.

The durable clear plastic holders are supplied on key chains and so can be carried around as a permanent reminder or attached to plant or equipment for service engineers to find quickly and easily review if component parts are due for replacement  – a key aftermarket revenue stream for manufacturers of equipment used in heating, lighting, air-conditioning and ventilation.

Timestrip indicators are also being trialed in time-related promotions, where specific messaging and prize details are revealed after a set period of time has elapsed – from 2 hours to 1 year.

The growth in service indicators has been driven by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and consumer brands looking for a low cost, accurate and reliable visual reminder for when product components need to be replaced to comply with maintenance cycles. Product performance can also be adversely affected by out of date components like water filters and vital product maintenance warranties can be invalidated if services are missed.

The growth in time related promotions is a being driven by brands looking to extend consumer interaction beyond purchase occasions, or add value to the overall brand experience whilst on site.

Examples include Casinos looking to encourage dwell time by presenting each customer with a 2 hour Timestrip card which reveals a complimentary drink after 2 hours has elapsed – ranging from a cup of coffee to a bottle of champagne – and a pizza company using Timestrips on fridge magnet cards, presented to customers using home delivery services, to reveal free products available after a set number of days – when a new order is placed.

As Timestrip Managing Director Reuben Isbitsky observesService indicators can monitor elapsed time from just a few hours to over twelve months and we have already engineered our product into components manufactured by some of the world’s most trusted brands, including 3M, Parker Hannifin, Whirlpool®, Febreze® and Tetra®.

The new carrier key chain ensures 24/7 brand promotion and is ever-present and easily seen once the set time has elapsed on the Timestrip. As a stock item, along with our complete range of service indicator strips, we can now offer same-day shipment of none-branded components. Most clients however, are making full use of our ability to add branding to the Timestrip indicator, or to a secondary card attached to the key chain itself.
